The India Internet Fund (IIF) invests in India-focused early stage internet and mobile technology startups. IIF invests in high growth mobile startups identified through its extensive network of long established relationships in the sector.

Hands-On Approach

The firm takes a hands-on approach and provides talented, driven entrepreneurs with on-the-ground management strategy and execution. The firm is led by Nihal Mehta, based in New York; James Pallotta, based in Boston; and Anirudh Suri, based in Delhi. Mehta and Suri collectively bring vast experience in entrepreneurship, investing and strategic management, along with deep industry knowledge and relationships in the mobile space. Compared to other early stage investors, we invest in fewer companies and hence are able to focus a lot more on the development and healthy growth of our portfolio companies.

Mobile Focus

We believe the mobile platform is the future. We have believed that for longer than most. In 2011, we almost named our fund “The India Mobile Group”. Our significant exposure to the mobile space in the U.S. over the last several years has given us significant insights into how the mobile sector is likely to evolve in India as well. We leverage our access to the CEOs of the top mobile startups in the U.S. to strategically guide the Indian mobile startups we invest in, as well as to identify interesting emerging mobile technologies.

Global Reach

By leveraging our strong presence in the U.S. and India, we hope to help Indian startups evolve rapidly and target the global market. In the process, we hope to promote greater cross-pollination between the startup ecosystems in India and the U.S. We help Indian startups with both strategic and executional issues related to expanding globally including, but not limited to, legal incorporation, setting up new offices, business development, subsequent fundraising, and others.
